Here’s two lovely short stories from Evie and Will who studied at City College Norwich in recent years. Both have fond memories of their time at College and recall inspiring teachers and having lots of fun with friends.
Evie Calaby joined City College Norwich in 2013 on the ABC Diploma in Art, Design & Media course (as part of the Media Learning Company). Here’s her story, as told in her own words.
I have very fond memories of City College Norwich as it gave me the foundation of skills that I needed to advance in my chosen career path.
I was lucky to be surrounded by lovely and creative classmates and a tutor who was so passionate about our subject and motivated us to achieve our best.
Since leaving City College, I worked briefly as a corporate video editor in order to earn some money to travel around Europe.
After my travels, I returned to the UK to a new job as a production co-ordinator at Ember Films, a local Emmy award-winning media production company. I work closely with the production manager to co-ordinate our many projects with clients such as the BBC and National Geographic as well as co-managing Ember’s social media presence.
William Barrett was at City College Norwich for three years, from 2010-2013. During that time, he studied for his GCSEs and then completed a BTEC in Interactive Media. Quite simply, Will had some of the best times of his life at the College! Here’s his story.
I can honestly say during my three years at City College Norwich I had some of the best times of my life.
I met my best friend in my first year retaking my GCSE’s and during my BTEC I had the most fun I’ve had in education so far! I had different lecturers for both years but they were all fantastic. During my second year I had Jay Begum who was new to the College but without her I don’t think I’d be doing my degree that I’m on right now.
The facilities at college were always perfect and fit for purpose. I don’t regret a single second I spent at City College Norwich and would recommend it to anyone.
I’m now in my third year at the Norwich University of the Arts studying Video Games Art and Design, I’ve met my partner, who I’ve since moved in with, and we’re planning a trip to the states.
I couldn’t be happier with where I am today and it’s all thanks to City College Norwich!
