Charlotte, Teigan and Jamie’s memories of their time studying various Business & Finance courses at City College Norwich during the 00’s and what they’ve gone on to do since.
Charlotte – the legal beagle!
Charlotte Nevin (nee Dixon) was a student at City College Norwich from 2005-07 when she studied for her Legal Secretary Diploma.
She tells us
“My class tutor knew my mum – which is how I found out about the course. I was late on my first day and the fact that my tutor was already aware of who I was made this rather embarrassing! But we got over it and I successfully completed the 2 year course.”
A few months after completing her course, Charlotte moved to Dublin and took a job as a secretary in a commercial property company. She remained in Dublin for 8 years before moving back to Norwich with the company.
“The many skills and certificates I achieved during my time at City College definitely stand out on my CV and have given me many opportunities that I wouldn’t have otherwise enjoyed.”
She is currently working as a Team Co-ordinator at JLL
Teigan – building on her Business experience!
Teigan Wilson studied on the course ‘Business with Property’ from 2014-2016 and tells us:
“Being one of the first ever students to study this course in the entire country was such a privilege!
During this time I made some very close friends. I also developed my communication and written skills. This gave me the opportunity to study at my first choice university. Because it was a brand new course to the college there were some flaws but that hasn’t stopped me from getting the best level of education at City College Norwich.
I have been accepted to study a Marketing and Management degree at the University of East Anglia and have met such positive role models in my class who I will still know in years to come!
Right now I am finalising my second year of the Business with Property course and preparing myself for university in September”
Jamie holds his council………
Jamie Smith was a City College Norwich student from 2004-2006, when he studied for his AVCE ICT. He was also Vice-President of the Students’ Union.
Jamie tells us:
“I had some great lecturers (who I’m still friends with on Facebook!) – Diana, Sharon and Kim.
I also remember Pete Sadler from IT who was such a nice guy. I spent a lot of time at the bar and taking delegates to NUS conference.
Since leaving I have worked for the Labour Party on the 2015 general election campaign. I am currently a Councillor and work for Clive Lewis, MP for Norwich South.”
