Here we have two short stories from Luke and Kate, who both studied Hospitality & Catering at City College Norwich in recent years. They both have fond memories of their time at College and particularly praise their tutors and standard of education
Luke Rutland completed his Hospitality & Catering courses at City College Norwich at levels 1, 2 and 3. Here’s his story, in his own words.
“There was never a dull moment at College, we always had something new to learn. I remember how much I enjoyed Thursday evenings because it was fine dining night. I was able to let the artist in me come out!
Since College I’ve been working as a line chef at Marston’s pub, The Greenstone, in Dereham.
I never fail to recommend City College to my younger friends if they want to do catering. It’s the best place to do it.”
Like Luke, Kate Mann also completed a Hospitality & Catering course at City College Norwich, and was here from 2009-2012. Here, she tells us her memories in her own words:
“My first 2 years at College were spent with an amazing group of people. Likewise, during my third year I was in a small group and we were all very close. I had some amazing tutors over the 3 years and had a lot of laughs with all of them! When I compare myself now to how I was when I first started my course I can notice that College definitely helped me to gain a lot of confidence.
Since leaving College I have worked full time in pubs and restaurants, eventually having settled down in a job at The Belgian Monk. I love my new job and can use a lot of the skills I learnt on my courses at College. Aside from employment, I am now engaged and am planning a wedding, I’m also in the process of renting a house too!
The 3 years I spent at College are the reason I am where I am today! It was all hard work but definitely worth it in the end, I loved every second.”
